Choose your route

Reaching the summit of 19,341 feet (5,895 meters) at Uhuru Peak is a challenging and exhilarating experience. Feel free to explore these routes in greater depth or ask Amos for his recommendation.

Marangu Route - This route takes 5 to 6 days. This is a popular trek with less time for acclimatization. There are huts on this route.

Machame Route - This route takes 6 to 7 days and is one of the more popular treks. Machame is good for a longer acclimatization. It has some difficult sections but overall is perceived as an easier route than others.

Lemosho Route - This route takes between 7 to 8 days and is considered the most beautiful. If you start on the Shira Route /North Circuit, this trek will take 9 days. Lemosho starts at a lower elevation than Shira and is considered excellent for acclimatization.

Umbwe Route - This route takes 5 to 6 days. Umbwe is considered the steepest and most difficult trek because there is less time for acclimatization. With the rapid ascent and greater difficulty, there tend to be fewer people on this route.

Rongai Route - This route takes 6 to 7 days. Rongai is the only route with a northern approach and is considered the best trek in the rainy season. This route is good for acclimatization but is often considered a more difficult final ascent.

Mt. Meru - While this is a separate trek from Kili, this dormant stratovolcano towers over the landscape at 4,500+ meters in height and can be a great addition to any trip to Tanzania.
